FAQ
Q: What is a Data URI, and why would I use one instead of a normal image file?
A: A Data URI embeds the image's binary data directly inside a string (e.g. in CSS, HTML, or JSON), so it doesn't need a separate HTTP request. It's handy for small icons or inlining images in emails/CSS, but it makes the encoded text about 33% larger than the original file, so it's not a good fit for large images.
Q: Why did decoding fail with "not a valid Base64 / Data URI string"?
A: This happens when the pasted text isn't valid Base64, or the selected image type doesn't match the actual image format encoded in the data. Double-check you copied the full string without truncation, and pick the correct image type from the dropdown if you pasted raw Base64 without a data: prefix.
